Dining room Christmas decor, part 1
When I talked about decorating for Christmas this year, I said I was going to limit the decor to the living room and dining room. With folks coming and going the week of Christmas (and kid #2 leaving to go back on Christmas Day), I wanted to keep it very simple.
In the past, I've had several things I've set up in the dining room, but the furniture has changed, and so I'm having to change the traditional decorating schemata and come up with some new ideas, using the same decor that I've been hauling up and down from the attic for the past ten years.
I started with the centerpiece for the table. I've had an antique dough bowl for about five years now, and it makes a great base for a centerpiece. I added a small white poinsettia, which I had placed into a concrete planter. (More about concrete planters in the future!) The poinsettia was $3 at a local florist.
Around the planter, I added boxwood and holly clippings from the yard. (I went out in my sweats and a bathrobe to clip this stuff, in an effort to become one of those Gray Gardens chicks. I'm hoping to freak the rich neighbors out.)
Then I added two of these cute birds that were for sale in my friend Hilda's booth...she gave me wholesale price, which was next-to-nothing...
...and here's the final product! Easy-peasy, fun and sleazy! (Without the sleazy part. Because Christmas.)
