It's almost fall, y'all!

I don't know about you, but for me fall officially starts the day I have 34 bright, shining faces sitting in room 316. (34 is not a typo.) Then I know it's time to get Brandywine 'fallified.'

Here are some fallifications from years past.  The above mantle was a couple of years ago, when I seemed to always be in the yard, cutting sticks.  I guess I had some kind of stick fetish.  Not sure what that was about and I don't need any speculation from the peanut gallery. (This means you, Ms. Ranch.)

I love the warmth of candles when the days start getting shorter.  I rarely use real candles in my house, as (a) I am allergic to a lot of scents and one can't be too careful, and (b) I tend to forget they're burning, which can lead to disastrous results.

Certain foods say "fall" to me, as well.  I love a lot of the produce that comes into season in the fall--apples, squash (including my all-time favorite: pumpkin) and pears and grapes. One of my faves is apple crisp.  If you have any apples leftover...

you can always make a wreath!

Autumn to me is blackberry picking for Apple and blackberry crumble or crisp. Mr Him picks his sloes to steep sloe gin. Trouble is I'm still looking forward to summer. It hasn't arrived in the UK this year except the odd day of sunshine

I already made an apple cake -- a fall staple for our house.

Dear Kirby, you've changed the name of your blog and confusified me. But that's okay (uh huh, uh huh), I like it! (uh huh, uh huh).

Yep, I've been gone a while, but I'm digging your fallifications! Especially the owl. :)

So sorry you had to go back to school! It been totally fall like the last couple of days here, but I hear it's going to be HOT again. Like HOT. You know I don't want it to be fall, but I'll give you a pass since you have the whole school thing and all.
