All kinds of drama with this header!

I generated a little conversation and concern with my last post.  Some folks even contacted me personally, and I had to reassure them that  (a) the blog isn't going to change appreciably, and (b) I'm really just giving it a new look. And I'll have more British stuff...but who doesn't love that?

I hope we're all cool now. Not, like, uncool.

I recently had to go back to NY to help my mom after she had some surgery and as usual, I took the long way home.

Next spring, I will begin working diligently on a cottage garden at the front of our house.  So I took lots of pictures of the gardens in Pennsylvania, looking for inspiration.

(I don't need a handicapped parking place, though. Yet.)

While I was in Pennsylvania, the Shamokin Fire Department had their block party.  I did not take photos of pierogies or potato cakes or stuffed cabbage.  Sorry.

If you have any ideas for flowers to incorporate into my cottage garden (we are already the land of a thousand hydrangeas, so those aren't necessary), please give me those suggestions.

After all, what's a cottage without a cottage garden?

Hmmm, I should probably find out the names of some of the things, as telling you the pretty white and pink flower might not be terribly helpful!

Love the header! I hope your Mom is better!! I wish I had some of your hydrangeas! How about knockout roses?

Hi Kirby,
I put in knock out roses this year along with brown eyed susan's and they are doing so great. Very little maintenance. The knock out roses have been blooming like crazy. Love those babies! Have a good start to the new week. Hope you mom is recovering nicely. Good wishes to her.

Maybe some old time hollyhocks...altho, I think they probably do best next to a building, seeing how tall they might get. But they remind me of a cottage.

Hope you had a sweet time with your mom - I'm sure she was glad to have you there. Love the idea of a cottage garden... I'm a sucker for black-eyed susans.
Enjoy your Sunday, Kirbs ~ xo Heidi
PS - the new header looks awesome!
