I have been a little slack about blogging recently, because "real life" has taken up most of my waking hours.

First of all, my laptop (on which I do most of my blogging) decided to give up the ghost.  The guy I have fix my computers is a one-man show, and it was over a week before he was finished putting Humpty Dumpty together again.

And one thing I noticed was that without blogging, I had time for other stuff.  Like cleaning the house.  And reading books.  And baking cupcakes.

And it was GLORIOUS.

Then, there is that pesky day job.  And the state of North Carolina is NOT being cooperative with my retirement plans.  They change stuff every day and now they're telling me that after I retire, I cannot teach part time and still keep my medical benefits (which was totally the plan).  So now I have to make a new plan.  I WANTED to make a little extra money blogging, but that $100 a year just isn't going to cut it.

So that has led me on a hunt for a new job...one outside the classroom. Which takes a lot of time.

All this being said (and really just lousy excuses for not blogging), I am sending you around to other folks' blogs to see pretty Christmas décor, and I hope you'll come back here to see mine on December 10th! This tour has been coordinated by Brooke at Creative Country Mom.

First up, it's Anne at White Lace Cottage!  She has a minimalist style I LOVE but I cannot achieve it with all this DPS* in my house.

Here is a lovely boathouse in PEI.  I LOVE the maritime provinces!!

Finally, I'm sending you to Kerryanne's home in Australia. I wonder what it would be like to have Christmas in the summer?

I'd love for you to come back all week and see what we have going on!

How frustrating that your plans are being messed with! I know what you mean about getting other things done, as it seems like even if I manage to scramble a post together, then I don't have time to visit other people…but will definitely be back here for your decor!!!

I cannot deny that I have done so much more since I took a blogging break. I'm glad you are enjoying yours too! Your NC school system kinda sucks. Can you tutor part time? Do they leave you any kind of options in the teaching field?

hmmmmm.... Pondering what you would be like with a different job.

Can you just move over to a private school? Do you have an option to purchase insurance as a retiree? Can't you retire from public and go private without losing your benefits from public?

Wait, so you can keep your medical benefits if you "just retire." But, it you want to sub or work part time you lose the benefits? laura
