I am joining a number of other talented bloggers on this year's Home Tour and I am excited!
This year, I started in the dining room...it had undergone a transformation this fall and I wanted to make sure I was helping to build its self-esteem. (Facelifts sometimes leave us feeling like we aren't quite ourselves anymore.)
I chose to leave the glitter alone this year and focus on simple and natural. I have two lovely big holly trees in my yard and they are bursting with holly. I added some to the dough bowl (which also has green raffia and straw balls from Big Lots) and to two clear vases.
I am somewhat obsessed with battery-powered candles right now, so I wrapped two in wired white berries, and put a white vase filled with boxwood cuttings under a cloche (on sale at Target last month).
More fake candles in Target lanterns (also on sale at Target) in the antique dry sink.
Then it was on to the living room, which got a completely different vibe.
While the dining room got simple and natural, the living room got retro glitz, thanks to a plethora of DPS*.
It's funny how a lot of this old stuff is popular again!
My mantel got a lot of vintage goodness, including the mercury glass lights that Shannon clued me in on (from BigLots). (I promise you neither BigLots nor Target compensate me in any way, shape or form...but they should.)
Of course, no Christmas would be complete without some hanging balls...
...and the tree, of course!
Thanks for stopping by! I LOVE having holiday company!
