Walkabout Wednesday #2

IMG_0906

Do you know my friend Kerry over at HouseTalkN?  Well, despite the fact that her neighborhood is filled with amazing homes with storybook style, she still dreams about a colonial—one that’s big enough for her large family.  (And they are both large in number—4 children!  And dogs!  And they are also very tall people—like 6 feet tall or more.  ~except maybe for the dogs~)  So my walkabout this week was a mission to find Kerry her King-sized K Colonial.

We’ve got a bunch of ‘em!

This one has handy-dandy balcony-ish things for the kids to play “Tarzan” on!

This one is more “Southern Colonial”  with a big front porch.  I find a big front porch to be a great place for “time out.”  Public shaming never goes out of style.

This one (which isn’t really crooked…I just held the camera that way) is perfect!  (It’s also the the one pictured at the top.)  Not only is approximately a billion square feet, it also has a garage with some sort of room above.  I like to call that room “Mom’s Hidey-Hole.”  You could probably put a wine fridge up there and a big fluffy couch and a television that only has HGTV and Bravo.

Welcome to the 'hood, Kerry!

I want to move in...can you transport one of the above to S. Florida? Preferably with a front porch AND a wine fridge...:)

I could totally live in ANY of those! (Assuming the owners were willing to move out and let me live there.)

I think I would have to have the one with the big porch, cuz I like big porches and I cannot lie.

Just when I thought I couldn't love you more- KABOOM! These colonials are making me swoon! I'll take the one with the wine fridge getaway! BIG SMOOCHES TO YOU, KIRBS!

I love the first one, and the southern colonial. I have a thang for dormers.

How did you know I dream of building a house with a mom hidey-hold hangout over the room? It would be my craft/photo studio/tv watching space. Just for me. Forget the wine fridge - I want a full-sized fully functioning fridge too!

Oh wow, that last one with the mommy room is just fantastic!! Next time you're on a walkabout, can you please find my dream home? A bungalow (I love cottage style, and at this age, I don't want stairs any more), with a nice sized porch (for our rocking chairs), but ground level (so in the near future it is walker/wheel chair accessible), with 3 or 4 bedrooms (the kids visit and then can stay the night if they invade my wine or dad's beer fridge) (or when they need to stay to look after us), a pool to keep the grandkids cool in summer (and grandma when she overheats from working in the garden...or hot flashes...yes, they don't stop after they are suppose to), must have central air (ditto for the last reason), walk in tub or just shower stalls (climbing into jacuzzi tubs is almost as bad as trying to clean them...we have one and I wish it was gone), a separate building for my husband's workshop/games room/man cave (we have one and I love it), a garage for my car (we don't have one and I would love one...especially after this winter), a main floor laundry room (again, don't have one and why carry it down only to bring it back up?).. I think I'd better stop...my list for my dream home goes on & on & on...when I remember what it is I want for it...

I have always wanted one of those mommy hide-out things! Of course now it would just be filled with trash picks and old furniture...

Thanks for the gorgeous tour, that first/last one looks pretty perfect. I'd keep the whole house for myself and let visitors stay over the garage !
