Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia

As I mentioned, our trip to NYC was cold and blustery.  The raincoat I bought off a dead guy was the only thing anyone saw of my carefully chosen outfits.

On Saturday, we went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, then went around the corner to the Brooklyn Art Museum, where DL fell in love.

With hieroglyphics.

Now, I’ll be honest with you and say that as much as I love my husband, there are serious gaps missing in his education.
I don’t want to blame the nuns, nor am I going to denigrate the science that my boys love so much.  But how can one not know of cuneiform?  Why would you not know that the scribe was one of the highest offices in Ancient Egypt?

So while he was busy poring over ancient text…

I was checking out the cats.
More of some really awesome art next time!

In addition, Cassie at Primitive and Proper and Carmel from Our Fifth House and I are starting a little book club, and we'd love for you to join us!  This month's book is The Forgotten Garden, by Kate Morton.  I just finished it, and there are a few twists and turns...won't you join us for a discussion at the end of the month?

Oooh, will there be snacks at the book club...sorry, I was immediately distracted from DL's ew passion by the allure of books and snacks!

GREAT pictures...and oh-the history there. How long had the dead guy been dead when you bought the coat from him?
I so wish I had time to join your book club-maybe later on down the road I can do that- xo Diana

Hi Kirby!!!

I went with my son's class to Victoria, BC to see this exhibition. It was ok......
Sorry the weather was so awful!!!! I think Old Man Winter wants to hang around still.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!!

Now I'm stuck with that SONG!!! No worries...I used to sing it relentlessly back in my formative years. :)

I hope the dead guy is okay. :)

The Forgotten Garden sounds intriguing. I'm going to look it up now.

It sounds like you got to see a lot of amazing places when you were visiting your daughter!
