Welcome to Brandywine! (Yes, my house has a name. The story of that is here.)
Back when I was young (and my heart was an open book), I used to go all-out for the holidays. After all, I was a stay-at-home mom with lots of time on my hands, sort of.
But now, instead of the three-tree overkill, I have one. It’s right inside the front door, in the living room. It’s decorated with ornaments collected over the course of 50+ years. Several of these ornaments were on the trees of my childhood home on Washington Street. More about some of these ornaments here.
I have a small round table in one corner of my living room, and I placed an old oil lamp in the center and placed pine cones (spray painted gold and silver) around it.
I like to keep my mantel really simple, using apothecary jars all year long, just filling them with different things, like ornaments or ‘snowballs.’
I added some faux mercury glass lights. (The lights aren’t faux…the mercury glass is.)
Turning the corner to the dining room, this is on the wall. More about that chalkboard here.
My cloches contain bird nests from our clematis virginiata. along with a few fake eggs and lots of jingle bells.
I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t changed out the Thanksgiving centerpiece, just added some pine cones that I Mod Podged with flocking powder.
My coffee station is set up on the dry sink in front of the mural.
In the window, I have the little trees I made with mini Jell-O molds.
There’s some bright green going on in the kitchen, at the window…
…and in the bookcase.
The Christmas painting is up.
The table is set.
I’m so happy you stopped by! Come and visit again, won’t you? (Next time, we’ll have martinis!)
