Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Last year, I wrote a post about what's on a teacher's wish list.**

It was picked up by an on-line magazine called New Jersey Family, and I felt semi-famous for about 48 hours.
But that was then. This is now. And my teacher's wish-list has changed.

I know people think teachers are good people who just want to be able to teach the kids, but I am not one of those Miss America contestants who is looking for a cure for diseases or World Peace.  I figure anyone who spends her day with 13 and 14-year-olds is already in good stead with whomever is in charge of giving out prizes for nobility, so I am going to be selfish.
I want stuff.  And lots of it.

I want a gift basket.

I know you creative types are reading this blog and thinking, "Cool!  I'll see what she says about teachers gift baskets so that I can get some ideas for my kids' teachers!"
Sure.
Why not?

Let's take a look at some ideas for a teacher gift basket, shall we?

First, there's chocolate.  Because no matter what the day brings...sullen 14 year-olds, complaining parents, or standardized testing...there's very little that can't be improved by chocolate.

A photo of Bette Davis.  To remind yourself that you simply CANNOT go all Baby Jane on somebody's a$$, no matter how ridiculous the behavior.

For the boys who come to class after Phys Ed.  'Nuff said.

Anti- this, anti- that...it's all good.

There are some days you laugh so hard at the foolishness, leakage could be a problem.

They come in handy-dandy sizes as well as whimsical colors!

A nice basket

with some pretty tissue paper,

and VOILA!!  A gift basket worthy of any slightly psychotic middle school teacher!

**Lest anyone from the upcoming Haven Conference is reading this, it is not the same as what you want in your swag bag.  Which, according to Kelly at View Along the Way, is either Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum, unless you're me.  Then it's Rick Moranis.

Even though I'm a "creative type" I always go for a gift card which I know can be used to buy most things.....including liquor. Which is what I would want most if I was a teacher.

I have a funny feeling that if I gave a basket of THAT STUFF to one of the teachers here.....they'd have me investigated. But, then again you're in NC....which is probably a lot like W.Va....do you have all your teeth?

Just found your blog via Bliss and so glad I did! I think the basket should contain a certificate for a Spa Day that includes liquor and chocolate. Not sure how teachers do it ~ so grateful that so many are in it for the teaching though.

Thank you, my dear, for making me laugh enough to cause a little leakage just prior to bedtime. :)

I 'know' somebody famous? Okay, semi-famous...well, all right then, for about 48 hours...still...that's pretty darn cool! I know a few teachers that would love to get this gift basket. But, I don't know any parents daring enough to give it. lol Love LittleMyoo's comment! Thanks for the chuckle, Kirby!

OMG! That was awesome. Finally, someone who'll just tell it like it is. I'll take Donnie Osmond in my basket please and I do love whimsical colors, too.

Love your blog....so glad I found it!

You teacher gift post last year, was the first post of yours that I ever read!! I believe you've taken it up a notch this year! So funny. LMAO at the Baby Jane remark. First scary movie I ever saw as a child and to this day I still look at all of my sisters with just a little caution. I sure hope you get all of those things!

Oh if only I had known these wonderful tricks when my daughter was in school - she could have been teacher's pet (or at least I could have been).

Now why didn't I think about booze when my kids were young enough to have teachers? I'm sure at least one of my kids drove a few teachers to drink!

I think you should have a Baby Jane photo in your classroom...just so they know that it could happen. Especially after swigging down some of that booze. Congrats on your fame- no matter how short lived! I'm guessing that you are a favorite at school? A booze hound dancing queen with chocolate in her desk- what's not to love?
Hope you get the basket of your dreams, Kirbs.

Oh dear Lordy! I think I would be permanently banned from the school grounds if I gave my daughter's teacher that basket! LOL! Genius, though. Sure to be another fame-making post!
