I'm in a book!

http://www.amazon.com/Epic-Mom-Failing-Every-Little/dp/1479350257/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360967026&sr=8-1&keywords=epic+mom+walsh

It's here!  And I'm in it!

Okay, I'm not really in it.  My name is in it.  And it is hilarious!  (Not my name--the book.)
(Although, back in the day, kids used to make fun of my name...so I guess it is kinda funny.)

For the past couple of years, I have picked up a little spare cash by doing some editing.  Most of the books  never see the light of day, literally.  I edit them, then the author sticks them in the back of a drawer somewhere and no one ever reads them again.

I kill books.

But not this one!  This one didn't really need any editing, it was so good.  And funny.  In fact, I felt bad taking money from the authors.  But not bad enough to send it all back.
(In my defense, I did make one or two truly helpful editing remarks regarding word choice.  Then I suggested more footnotes.  I love a good footnote.  Especially if they are funny footnotes.  And the footnotes in this book?  Funny!)

Anyway, if you want to read funny stuff about being a mom, you need to read this book.  There's all sorts of stuff in here that you will recognize, like Chuck E. Cheese, Pottery Barn, and wrapping paper sales.  You'll hear stories that are universal to all mothers--whether you're a mother of young kids now, or a "remember when" mother.

And my name is on page 277.

    1. But Karianne...I'm "Marianne." We're practically related. Fine. Kirby IS funny in that subtle and witty way. If you go for that kinda thing. (;

  8. And now I know one gift I'm getting 3 of our kids for Christmas! The humour of these women is hilarious, so I'm betting the book will be incredible. Might have to get one for myself! :)

    1. You have very good taste. Like Jackie Onassis even. You kind of look like her and Meg Ryan mixed together. As an aside, I will also be naming any future daughter "Debbie."

    2. Why thank you, Marianne! And what a great name for your daughter!
      I was told when I was younger I looked like Princess Margaret or Barbra Streisand but never Jackie or Meg! Any and all are a tremendous compliment. :)

  10. Kirby,
    Thanks for being the best editor EVER. Marianne and I bow down to your greatness. I shudder to think of all the typos we would've had if you had not helped us! And we are very grateful for the shout-out, too!

  13. Hey, I went over to Amazon to see more about the book and it got ALL FIVE STARS from everyone who read it! I regret not being a better mother than I was (all kids are grown and now I be a good mom by sending money) but I say I was a "good enough" mother. Maybe this book will make me feel better.
