Here is my (R)October, folks...

I am trying Nester's 31 day challenge.

(Which may or may not make me clinically insane.)

But I am taking part in another challenge, as well.  I have been asked to take part in our local Habitat for Humanity's ReStore challenge...a ReSpace fundraiser.

Basically, I am designing and creating a room out of materials I find at the ReStore...re-purposing everything and making it both beautiful and functional.  I have been paired with a Habitat Homeowner and a local real estate firm and I am creating a dining room inspired by my family...a single mom and her two teenage children.  They are from Puerto Rico and love to cook and bake and eat and spend time together.  Her house is almost complete--and she is thrilled that her kids will each get their own room, as they have been sharing, which is awkward when they are not the same gender.

She and I had quite a conversation at our first meeting.  She told me that she loves soft, soothing colors and her dining room should be filled with food and laughter and sangria.  I heartily approve (especially about the sangria part) and plan to do her little family justice.

So this is the way October will work:  my Home Page will have the 31 days of Mystery & Mayhem but there will also be a link to my tab that shows the progress on my fundraiser room.  I think the tab will  be called "ReStore," but I might think of something better.  Stay tuned.

I hope my seven regular readers won't hate this.  If you do, just skip October and come back in November.

Please do not forsake me.
