The Farewell

I knew this day would come.
At the beginning, things were great.  That warm feeling washing over me.
The hot, steamy nights.
The energy you gave me...the excitement you created.
I loved you.

But it was almost as if things were TOO hot...
The relationship was bound to fizzle.  Burn itself out.

I was exhausted from trying to sustain the momentum.

We knew it had to end.

And as much as I loved you...as much as I wanted it to last...

The letter arrived.
My hands shook as I held the envelope.

As I read the letter, my eyes welled with tears.

"It seems just like yesterday that we were wrapping up and here we are ready to start the 2012-2013 school year."

Goodbye, Summer.  You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Maybe someone will find this funny.

Summer will miss you too! I will say that I am thankful for all of the great teachers my kids had when they were in school. I'm thankful for all teachers who want to spend their precious days with kids who may or may not realize how lucky they are to have great teachers. Thank you for being a teacher.

I totally feel for you, but I really need for my son to go back to school. Mommy needs a sanity check like you wouldn't believe. :)

Eeek! Don't say it, as I like to live in ndenial for a few more weeks. Sometimes I just want them to go to school for one week so I can restock my energy though.

I hear you Kirby. I'll be teaching in a few weeks too. (uncontrollable sobs)

Summer sheepishly told me to tell you that it might be a good idea if you went and got checked out at the clinic.

Awww, summer will come again. It's faithful and loves you, but to every season there is an end. Buck up little school teacher, hold your head high, pull up your boot straps and stick out your boobs. Be proud little school teacher!

Oh no, is it that time for you already? Seems like your summer just started.

So soon? Seems like summer has finally leveled out ... the temps are bearable ... I can finally escape the confines of air conditioning and venture outside ... and now you're stuck inside. Inside a institutional cinder block building?!

We are still a month away ...

:)

This one did go by with breakneck speed, didn't it??? And for the first time ever, I have to go back in AUGUST and that's just disgusting. In my entire life (except for college) I never had to report to school before Sept. 1. And the bad news is that we don't even get out early in June for this. Crap.o.la. That's what I think about it. Because we don't have AC. And every day that I am dripping now, I think "OMG I'm going to be dripping in pretty dresses in 2 weeks." Fan dam tabulous.
