Recent Projects

Before I left to visit my homeboys (read mother and in-laws), the roof caved in.
So I have been scrambling to find some things to put in my new booth space.  Luckily, my trip sent me to places where the "honey holes" are around every corner.

In fact, my mother-in-law has even gotten in on the act.
(Important background info: I really like my mother-in-law.  The jokes do not apply to us.)

She is holding two pieces for me--a washstand that is really funky and a curly maple dresser.  I could have filled her garage with twenty more pieces, but that would have meant no room for the car.  She is hopeful that the multiple honey holes will parlay into multiple visits from us.

Here are some other acquisitions and updates:

A sideways chair!  (Have no idea how to rotate this--I've right-clicked and whatnot and it looks okay in the picture file, but then it doesn't go the same way as it looks in the folder.

Here's the back.  This was a chair that I found at the side of the road during one of our "large item pickup" weeks--I found four cute chairs tossed out.  This chair had a bad leg--it had split at one point and had been bolted back together.  It was sturdy, but not pretty.  So I bought a dropcloth and made a "slipcover," which is a misnomer, because you can't take it off.  There were about a zillion staples involved.

Another sideways chair (still have to figure this new laptop out, apparently).
Painted it white, distressed it, and covered the seat with some really fun fabric.

$4 frame becomes a chicken wire organizer.

A great vintage suitcase with a hot pink satin lining!

...And a windmill picture.  I have learned to never leave a windmill picture behind.  You will undoubtedly regret it.  (But that's another story for another day.)

I will try to figure out why these photos are sideways, I promise.  It feels a lot like I've been drinking, which is inaccurate.  It's only 7 am.  I usually wait until 9.

I am linking to Joe.  Check Joe out.  He has some really hot stuff.

Feeling a tad sea sick tilting my head to the left! Then I got to the vintage suitcase - which is upright and thought, "She found a coffin? WOW!"

going to sip my coffee a little slower right now......

Looks like a real haul! You are gonna have some fun with those pieces and a lot of work. So try to put off the drinking till at least 10:00.

Sideways frame too? Or is it horizontal in real life? Plus, it's 11am here, so that's a totally acceptable drinking hour for you (2pm east coast time) !

Great haul, but definitely feeling sea-sick too.
Maybe sideways chairs will catch on !

I absolutely agree about the windmill pic. Those dutch artists....sigh of admiration. Sideways pictures were worth the kink in the neck.

I too have sideways problems with pics. But that red satin suitcase speaks to me.

Love those quirky sideways chairs! Any chair that look that cool lying down is all right in my book. :-) SCORE on the windmill painting!

Napped? Nabbed. If there is a spelling mistake to be had I know I will make it for your eyes.

I really love the old windmill picture. I have a little bit of Dutch in my ancestry. I think that's why I'm drawn to old windmills. And blue Delft china, and little wooden shoes, and...
Great find!

I love those chairs. I have almost the same arm chair that I hope to re-do someday. I also love your vintage suitcase find. Good score...

So it looks like you won the great floor debate? I see distressing and tape marks in those pictures.....
