Boys don't make passes

...and it's a dang good thing, too...because that would be highly inappropriate.

Last week I had my yearly eye exam.  Now let me just put this into perspective: I have been wearing glasses for forty years.  In middle school, I had wire-rimmed granny glasses.  Then, I graduated to big honkin' plastic rims.  Then, it was contact lenses, which were my staple from the time I was 17 until I was 50.  But now?

It's a hassle.

Because I need bifocals, and the contact bifocals don't work for me.
And I have to read...mostly because I teach, but also for fun.
Can't see the computer without the bifocals, either.

So I gave up the contacts, and went to all glasses, all the time.

If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you'll know that I have an insane, weird stalker kind of thingy  harmless crush on Rick Moranis.

Yep...THAT Rick Moranis.  The SCTV/Ghostbusters Rick Moranis.

And last time I got glasses...they were just like Rick's.  As if wearing oversized hornrims were going to telepathically signal Rick that he should call me...or at least follow me on Pinterest.

But this time?  Now that EVERYBODY and his mother's rapper has big black glasses?  I decided to go for something a little different.

That's right--cat eyes.
(Disclaimer--I really wanted baby blue cat eyes with rhinestones, but they were fresh out.  Next year everyone will be wearing them.  I am always ahead of the curve, dangit.)

...the best I can do by myself, from the 'puter.
Can't wait for every rapper to be wearing THESE!

You look great Kirby... maybe you could glue a few sparkly rhinestones on those and spray paint them baby blue. (Sorry...it's the crafter in me.)

The cat eye glasses are great Kirby. I've always wanted some myself. So, you've got a thing for Moranis hey? I won't lie, that's a little weird. But my hubby thinks Hilary Clinton is HOT. So, I live with weird.

Well my friend you LOOK FABULOUS!!!!! I have to tell you though...I think you are subliminally still signaling Rick or should I say Luis because you are kind of styling a Jeaneanne kind of style there girl...Hello...Ghostbusters!!!! : ) lol!!!!! for all that read this -- if you are not a GB fan you won't get it but since I am the number one GB fan out there...had to bring up this continuing obsession that Kirby has with Rick! sending hugs my friend -- really they look AWESOME!!!! so YOU!!!!

My first pair of glasses in 1968 were a pair of tortoiseshell cat eyes. They were very pointy. I looked ridiculous, but you look stylish.

Those are awesome! I started wearing glasses in 3rd grade. Went through basically the same phases as you....bad bad eyes, severe astigmatism and very near sighted. Silly me, I thought that when I got older that my eyes would get better - after all I was nearsighted --my doctor laughed out loud because presbyopia has NOTHING to do with nearsightedness. DAMN! Now I have a THIRD thing wrong with me so trifocals for me. SHIT. But I started glasses full time about 15 years ago - covers up the wrinkles better.

Cats eyes are so much cooler than the owl eye phase we all went through. Some slight bedazzling might just be in ordere!

I quit wearing my contacts somewhere in my early 50's, too. I can, however, see up close so only need them for driving or when I am far away from something- Love your new specs....too bad about the blue rhinestone ones- xo Diana

Uh oh. Now you're telling me I have to give up my beloved contact lenses in a few years? I've resorted to wearing readers over my contacts for reading and blogging ... I'm getting ready to hang them on a chain around my neck! Yikes!

Love the new Kirby look ...

:)

Way to rock the cat eyes, Kirb! Bet you can find some stick-on rhinestones in the party favor aisle at WalMart -- or I probably have some in my preschool classroom I can send you, LOL. You totally need a bit o'bling. :)

Wow, I can't believe we've been living parallel lives.
I've been wearing glasses since I was about 11 years old.
I went through the wire rimed phase,
the big honkin plastic rim phase,
at 25 I moved into the contact lens phase.
I'm 50 now and getting to the point where I should be using bi-focals (I have to wear reading glasses while wearing my contacts and I need a different strength of reading glasses for reading and for computer work...it's really annoying).
The cat's eye thing works for you although I don't think I could pull it off. You should really consider blinging them out with rhinestones and glitter glue.
