Blogging Without Borders...The Reveal!

Once upon a time, I wrote about my living room.
I really liked my living room, but after staring at pictures of other folks' living rooms, I liked mine less.

A lot less.
Instead of saying "Welcome to our empty nest where we drink beverages and do creative stuff," it said "Any minute now, you'll get a whiff of 'old people smell.'"

This summer, several of us were involved in a challenge to stretch ourselves (both figuratively AND literally, in my case--those eleven foot ceilings are waaaay up there) creatively.  My challenges were many:  not spend any "new" money--more about that in another post, paint those really high walls on a really high ladder, paint a checkerboard floor, and try reupholstery.  In addition, the room needed to look "freshy," as opposed to moldy.

My living room was getting a makeover.

...I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Yea! It looks so great! I really like the new furniture arrangement with the corner chair & table. Beautiful new hutch too.

I like the way it turned out too! I think you achieved "freshy"! I'm still toying with the idea of painting a floor. I'm intimidated. Nice job and nice video too.

The makeover looks amazing - not old ladyish at all. Love the painted floor and large buffet and great colour on the walls, what a lovely transformation.
Thought you might do a little song and dance at the end of the video - maybe next time ?!

So I need to know what your kids will say when they stop home. Weren't they the ones with the old people issues? And what is on your shirt? I can't make out what it is.

Nice redo my dear, no falling off ladders and you covered your parquet - bonus! Makes it easier to walk over to the "cabinet".

Now I don't feel so bad that I didn't get to meet you at Haven - because your video was fabulous! Felt like I was sitting in your house. One problem, when you opened that liquor cabinet, why didn't you offer me a cocktail?

Love the shutter valances and the way you hung art on the other shutters! Mission definitely accomplished.

Look at you go!!! The new paint color changes the whole feel of the room!!

We just visited one of our rental properties we rent to an 'old' friend and made the same comment. Me 'it doesn't smell bad, but it does smell like something. Joel 'yeah, it smells like old people' LOL
