Biting off

This is the first summer that I have been blogging (and I've been blogging for over five years) that I have been a part of an active group of bloggers.

In life, it's difficult to find folks out there who are genuine and with whom you have things in common.
In blogging, it's even harder.

There are plenty of 'Mommy Bloggers' out there, but I have raised my children.
There are travel blogs, but I haven't traveled much.
There are pet blogs, but Rosie and Winston will sue me if I write about them. (Those cats have a lawyer who is RIDICULOUS!)

I wanted to write a humor blog, but most of the humor writers are male.  Apparently, women aren't supposed to be funny.  When I link to a humor party, it generally falls flat.

Then I hooked up with the Do-It-Yourselfers, and I felt like Sally Field.
They really like me.

So, in an effort to be one of the gang, I am doing all kinds of bloggy stuff this summer.  Here are a few of the fun things I'm trying:

1.  A guest post or two (like the one I did for Sarah);
2.  Giveaways (one for my 1,000th comment, which the lovely Linda will receive--more about
that next week--and one for my 400th post.)

3.  Linky parties and challenges--one that I am in the loop for, the other based on the Olympics.

4.  Attending the Haven Conference in Atlanta, where the bloggy folks are getting together.

I also have some blogging goals:

1.  300 followers,
2.  20 projects, and
3.  3 tutorials.

In September, I'll be checking back here to see if my goals have been accomplished.
Meanwhile, I'll keep an eye on the cats.

I have always liked you but would like you more if you put my button in your tribal section!

Loving your goals and so happy to be in the "tribe" with you ... and am excited that I'm your 1,000th comment! So fitting, right? Especially since I'm your biggest fan!

:)

P.S. I'm so sad I can't go to Haven. But next year we will meet. I'm putting that on MY goals list ...

I'm glad you linked up with the DIYers! It's a friendly bunch. And judging by some of the kind of rif-raff they allow in that niche (me), not a very discerning group either. Which is perfect. :)
