| This is Mr. & Mrs. C. |
Not even joking.
He is a chemist who invents stuff. Like the individual Country Crock little cup thingies that you get at some restaurants? He invented the grease-proof lidding that you peel off. At one time, he made all the creamer lids in the country. He also develops tamper-evident packaging and safety packages for medical stuff. (I'm sure these all have very technical terms, but I have no idea what they are.) All I know is that this translates into our real lives.
It means he likes things done right.
I like things done quick.
So, when he occasionally goes out of town (today, Illinois), I get some things done quickly. (Not necessarily rightly.)
Here's how I put up the cute little chalkboard I got from the estate sale a few weeks ago:

| The heel of this sandal looks like it might make a good hammer. |
This is what my husband will see tomorrow when he comes home, if it doesn't crash in the middle of the night and scare me out of my wits.
I'm here:

Well, as much as I want your autograph (especially now that I see your lovely handwriting), I do believe your hubs is famous,so I will need his too. You can just write the on the chalkboard and send that along to me!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I laughed and laughed again ...
ReplyDelete... and then laughed some more ...
:)
Linda
You forgot to mention D is also handsome. Real handsome.....
ReplyDeleteBliss
How sweet of you to surprise him. I like to make changes around here when my husband is gone too. He never knows just what he'll come home to.
ReplyDeletebahahahahaha
ReplyDeletedid it fall down?
I think I have made my opinions on levels pretty clear :) Love your project and I am all about doing a project quickly (that's why I am such a terrible step-by-stepper)!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
karianne
Good girl, you did that just right! You and me got alot in common, well uh, except your husband!
ReplyDeleteAll except the Inventor husband part and the cat (but totally with you on Winston Churchill) this is my life while hanging a chalk board. I only wished I had taken pictures to show you!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!
xo

This is done very well. I probably would have tapped a nail in the wall and tried to hang the chalkboard with no wire at all by hanging the upper edge on the nail. I think some of your husband's do-it-right attitude has rubbed off.
ReplyDeleteWe apparently have parallel marriages (which is odd because I always thought that you and I were the same person only with different plumbing.) If I'm going to hang a picture, laser levelers, GPS coordinates, and advanced calculous are all going to be employed. Also, the item being hung will be meticulously weighed and only the appropriate toggle (that is the correct weight rating) will be used. Occasionally this process can take days and requires consultation with outside engineers. If my wife is going to hang a picture she will find the first nail/paper clip/piece of bubble gum she can find, and slap it up on the wall after taking a full 1/10th of a second eye-balling the spot to hang it on. She can easily hang 50 pictures in the time it takes me to hang one. However, after she has finished hanging a group of pictures, I will wait until she has gone to visit her mother and I will take everything down and re-hang it from scratch according to my OCD standards. She never seems to notice that I have done this, (or at least she doesn't let on,) but it allows me to sleep at night knowing that the photo of my great aunt Esther is level and positioned to the molecule squarely between the two pictures on either side of it.
ReplyDeleteHehehehe - this is a great post, so funny. I can really relate to it also (I say looking up at a skewed frame hanging on the wall - but even used a mitre thingy to cut the angles!).
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bliss - Mr. C's a good looker, but then of course he would be, with a gorgeous, funny and intelligent wife.
ReplyDeleteAnd you do DIY too ! x
Awesome post, Kirb! And, Dennis throws a great party.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'll be honest, sometimes I just slap stuff up too. Although, I don't usually try to pound screws.:)
ReplyDeleteWait, did you really hammer in a screw?????
ReplyDeleteAwesome! He will love it! (came from finding the funny)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I always wait until my husband's out of town to do my projects. Much faster that way! :)
ReplyDeleteYou were one of the most clicked links at last week's Finding the Funny Party. We'll be featuring you tomorrow, and I'm pinning this to our Finding the Funny Pinterest board.
hahaha - I am such a random, not measuring, picture hanger. It drives my husband nuts because he is a neat freak and, like yours, wants things to be perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do the same thing... but one night my household woke up to a huge crash, and searched the house to find the source...found nothing. The next morning I realized a large picture that I had hung had fallen down behind the couch!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you crack me up. The heel of the sandal! Hammering the screw!
ReplyDeleteI love all the pictures that authenticate every silly maneuver. Helpful kittens, haha!!
ReplyDeleteYou are officially getting your craft on.... you drank the mama blogging koolaid!
