A chair for the new millenium

Sometimes, I see a deal that's just too good to pass up.
This chair was one of them.

This is a Bassett chair, probably from the 1980s. I say that because of the blonde wood. Someone, in their infinite wisdom, has re-covered the seat with an old piece of drapery.

I $hit thee not.  They didn't even line up the center stripe with the middle of the chair back.  Bassett would NOT be this sloppy, if Bassett still made this type of thing.  (Bassett was bought out by another company and now all they make in the US are bedroom suites. At least that's what my friends in the furniture biz tell me.)
So of course I pulled that seat off and painted the frame.  And painted the frame.  Then painted the frame again.  And I wound up with something very interesting.

Some very pretty floral fabric in lilac, pale yellows, grays and greens was used to cover the seat.

Not bad for a nine dollar chair!

That looks great! I love that you have friends in the 'furniture biz'... I have friends in the 'retail biz'. Specifically, the cashiers at Walmart. :)

Love how the paint layers turned out. Great choice in fabric, too.

Great job. That stripe not lining up would have sent me over the edge. Buying the chair was practically a public service. :)

Now that is something that would make Bassett proud!

What a great upgrade Kirby! The painting texture adds a lot to the piece. Congrats on the feature at Southern Hospitality. :)
